Walk out of your village into land nobody has drawn. Whatever you see is sketched into your atlas in pencil. Get back to safety and the sketch is inked for good. Be the first to reach a peak, a lake or a ruin and you name it, for everyone.
Explore. Walk with WASD or click where to go. Hills and mountains let you see further.
Get back safe. Villages, your camp and your nation's capital are safe. There your sketches are inked and what you carry is stored.
Gather. Wood from trees, stone from rocks, berries from bushes, crystals from crystal fields.
Settle. Pitch a camp (H) and build around it (B). Join or found a nation (G).

The world
One world, shared by everyone, and it stays. It is about four kilometres across: coasts and islands, forests, marshes, heaths, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, and nine old villages.
Nobody gets a map of it, not even the game on your computer. You only learn the land by walking it, and what you learn is yours: your atlas.
Sketch and ink
New land is a pencil sketch. If you fall before you reach safety, the sketch is lost with your pack. Ink it at a village, your camp or your capital and it is kept.
Names
About a hundred and twenty places wait for a name: peaks, lakes, rivers, isles, ruins, stone circles, ancient trees, caves and crystal fields. The first explorer to stand there names it, and the name is on every map from then on.
Danger
Wolves in the forests, wisps in the marshes. They are not hard to beat with your staff, and you can outrun most of them. If you fall you leave a pack behind with what you carried. Anyone can open it, so go back quickly.
Nations
Nations are run by players. Found one where you stand: give it a name, a three-letter tag, a motto and a flag. The land around you becomes its capital, a keep that is a safe home for every citizen.
Offices and elections
A nation has a Leader and a Cartographer. Any citizen can call an election, stand as a candidate, and vote.
Laws
Citizens write laws in their own words and vote on them. Passed laws become the laws of the land, for everyone to read.
Land
The Leader and the Cartographer claim land next to the borders. More citizens means more land. Only citizens may build on it.
Building
Build on a one-metre grid, near your camp or on your nation's land, with what you gathered. Everything you build stays in the world.

Roofs
Close in a space with walls, doors and windows and it gets a roof. From outside you see the roof, not who is inside. Walk in, stand in the doorway or look in at a window to see the room.
What's new
Roofs, a hidden world, a new look
Closed rooms get roofs. Who is inside can only be seen from inside, from the doorway or through a window.
New piece: the window.
The world is hidden: the game only gets the land around you and the parts you have mapped.
The server checks every step and keeps your map, so it can't be faked.
A new main menu and a new look.

Remember
New land is a sketch until you reach a village, your camp or your capital.
If you fall, your pack (sketches and what you carry) stays behind. Go back for it.
Close in a space with walls and it gets a roof. Others only see in through the door or a window.
